BAGGAGE ALERT: Effective May 5, the major airlines will begin charging a fee of $25 (per way) for a second checked bag. Traditionally passengers on domestic flights could check up to two bags per person for free; beginning in May they can only check one for free. This applies to domestic travel only. Extempted passengers include uniformed military and handicapped persons who have to check an assistance device as the second piece (ie a wheelchair).
