What are the airport’s operating hours?
If there are passengers in the airport, we’re open. The terminal doors generally open at 4:00 a.m. and close at 1:00 a.m. or when the last flight arrives, whichever is later.
When does the security checkpoint open and close?
Opens at 4:30 a.m., closes at 8:20 p.m.
What are the airline operating hours?
Airline ticket counters open at 4:30 a.m. and stay open until their last flight of the day departs.
What are the hours for the Allegiant Air ticket counter?
The Allegiant Air ticket counter is open two hours prior to the departure of a scheduled Allegiant Air flight.
What time does the restaurant open and close?
The Café and Spirits, our restaurant opens at 5:00 a.m. each day and closes between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. or after the security checkpoint area closes. The restaurant also remains open for flight delays.
The lounge opens at 12:00 noon except on Saturdays and operates on the same hours as the main restaurant.
The Café snack bar on the concourse opens at 5:00 a.m. each day and closes at 7:00 p.m. Sunday to Friday and on Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. or after the security checkpoint area closes. The Cafe also remains open for flight delays.
What are the hours of the news and gift shop?
Hudson News and Gifts opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. during the week and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evenings.

How early do I REALLY need to get to the airport ticket counter before my flight?
Delta, United and US Airways all recommend 90 minutes prior to departure, especially if you are checking baggage. In addition, 30 minutes prior to departure – all check in activity at the ticket counter is cut off. US Airways computers will automatically lock out check-in and the customer will be scheduled for a later departure (depending on the fare purchased) whether or not the flight has been boarded or is still at the gate.
Allegiant Air recommends passengers get to the airport two hours prior to departure. The ticket counter will close 30 minutes prior to departure time of the aircraft.
Keep in mind, you may want to get to the airport even earlier if it is around a holiday. The Friday prior to Thanksgiving and the Sunday after Thanksgiving are two of the busiest travel days of the year at the Roanoke Regional Airport. Check the airport’s news feed on the right hand side of this website to see if there are any travel advisories in the hours before your flight. If traffic is expected to be heavy and or disrupted in any it will be posted here.
How early do I need to be at the gate before my flight?
Delta, United and US Airways ask that passengers get to the gate 35 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of the aircraft. Most carriers will begin boarding at least 25 minutes prior to departure when possible.
Allegiant Air requires passengers be in the gate 40 minutes prior to the departure time of the flight.
